In 2011 I completed my law studies at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname with the thesis entitled “Legal protection of the owner of broadcasting.” Aside of my interest in criminal, inheritance, commercial and international law, I studied personal and family law and especially divorce law. I completed my studies with an internship at Schurman Advocaten entitled: “Effects on children in divorces.” It is now more than 8 years that I work at Schurman Advocaten, first as a legal assistant, then as a trainee lawyer and from 2013 as a lawyer.

I also have professional and scientific experience in the following areas:

  • Personal and Family Law
  • Commercial Law
  • Criminal Law in particular Juvenile Justice
  • Legal Affairs
  • Tenancies Law

My main interest is primarily on criminal law, including juvenile criminal law, business and family law.

I am also active in the social field. From 2012 through 2014 I was a member of JCI (Junior Chamber International) and have been able to help execute many projects. Also, I was elected to become the vice president external affairs. In 2013 to 2015 I was a member of BNI (Business Network International, where I took the presidential function on me.

In my spare time I read a lot of reading, I follow relevant courses relating to different jurisdictions and so I keep abreast of the latest developments in the law.
